RSPCA - East Winch Wildlife Centre
The RSPCA Wildlife Centre is located just outside the Norfolk village of East Winch. The centre provides veterinary care and rehabilitation for wild fowl and seals. At the core of the facilities is an isolation unit for the treatment of infectious diseases. However, since construction the unit had suffered unacceptably high levels of cross infection and mortality rates. It was suspected that the ventilation was inadequate and the lack of air conditioning compounded the problems.
Entropic Design was initially appointed to carry out a analysis of the existing ventilation system and comment on it adequacy. The resulting report identified fundamental short comings in the existing system.
We subsequently were appointed to design remedial works to the existing system. This involved increasing the ventilation rate, reconfiguring the supply and extract positions and incorporating cooling to the supply air.
