The Blue Cross - Victoria
The Blue Cross is an animal charity that provides free or subsidized veterinary care for animals owned by economically deprived people. The Victoria hospital had been operating since 1909 on the same site. The project involved the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new hospital. The accommodation included consultation rooms, minor treatment rooms, full operating theatre suite, animal accommodation and offices.
The building is mechanically ventilated with air conditioning in the surgical areas. Plant space was a particular challenge on this site and innovative bespoke air handling plant was manufactured which incorporated it own heat rejection in the exhaust. Medical gases where also installed to all clinical rooms.
The project was undertaken in collaboration with Engineering Design Consultants ( Now EngDesign Ltd).
